Harrison Higa, 36 of Makawao, was identified Monday as the man who died Monday after his motorcycle crashed down an embankment off Piilani Highway in Ulupalakua.
According to the report in the Honolulu Advertiser Maui police said Higa was traveling west on the highway when he lost control of his KX250F Kawasaki motorcycle, an off-road bike, and went down the embankment.
He was taken to a hospital on O’ahu, where he was later pronounced dead.
This was Maui County’s seventh traffic fatality of the year, compared with five at the same time last year.
